At the ongoing 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ), an organisation with consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), delivered an oral statement under Agenda Item 10 during the interactive dialogue with the UN Independent Expert on the human rights situation in Somalia.
In its intervention, NUSOJ highlighted the alarming state of media freedom and the right to freedom of expression in Somalia, drawing attention to both progress made and the grave challenges that continue to undermine fundamental rights.
