On 24 May 2025, Journalist Abdikadir Mohamed Aw- Hassan was arrested in Hargeysa. He was detained over a post he shared on his Facebook page about the president of Somaliland. After 21 days Hassan has been brought before the court and sentenced to 6 months in jail.
