On 18 March 2026, Iqra Abdullahi Abdi, a journalist at Five Somali TV, was arrested by the Benadir Regional Police Forces. She was initially detained at Deynile District Police Station while covering a public protest in Deynile District. Later the same day, she was re-arrested and held at Hamar Jajab District Police Station while off duty, where she remained in custody for over 20 hours. She was subsequently released on 19 March 2026.
