On January 16, journalist Shafi’i Abdi Mohamed, known for his critical social media posts about Somaliland authorities, was arrested upon arriving in Hargeisa from Mogadishu. Police forces, acting on orders from Somaliland Police Commissioner Mohamed Adan Saqadhi, raided his residence and detained him. Mohamed was held in custody for six days before being released without charge on January 22.
